Within the world of Control there are quite a few mysteries that players will always want to find answers for, both for the Control universe and the Alan Wake games, as both of these franchises are connected in so many different ways, and now it seems Control Resonant continues the tradition of teasing Alan Wake’s connection to its universe through The Nightwatchmen Tape, which can be found while exploring the game’s world.
How to Find The Nightwatchmen Tape
As you explore the game world, there are plenty of hidden secrets that you will need to uncover throughout the game that cannot be found on any map, one of which is a videotape that you can find coincidentally while solving one of the many puzzles hidden in the game world.
In order to begin your search for this elusive tape, you will first need to head to the Evacuation Zone and head to the top half of said zone, where you can find a camera puzzle that will freeze you if you get close to it. Although this guide isn’t for this puzzle, partially solving the camera puzzle is what will guide you to The Nightwatchmen Tape.

Normally to solve the camera puzzles, you will have to find a way behind them to turn them off. To do this, you will first have to get captured by the camera on the roof and frozen by it before heading into the building through said door. After doing this, you are on the track for the tape as you follow the staircase down as far as it goes before you end up at an elevator that will take you the rest of the way.
Before you get on this elevator, there are two apartments on this floor, with one of which being accessible, but once you enter this apartment, you will notice it isn’t exactly normal, as the apartment is filled with black scratches and markings throughout, which will eventually lead you to a TV that is filled with static and a familiar voice speaking from it.
Once you interact with this TV screen, you will then acquire The Nightwatchmen Tape, which you can watch from your archives in the pause menu, which allows you to watch a short video featuring our favourite writer Alan Wake and the detective Sam Lake from Alan Wake 2 as they discuss an entity known as The Scratcher that is hunting them as they have become nightwatchmen while doing a small dance sequence at the end.
