How to Beat The Dancer in Control Resonant

After you have obtained yourself the Gravitational Shift ability from the West Incursion Zone, you will now be able to make your way over to the boss battle within this area, and to do so, you will first need to navigate a topsy-turvy maze before finally heading to the Theatre trapped within to fight The Dancer boss in Control Resonant.

How to Find The Dancer in Control Resonant

Once you acquire the Gravitational Shift ability, you can now head back to where you first enter the West Incursion Zone, where you will be able to notice a large open space that you will now be able to venture through, which on the map will show up as a black void, indicating how confusing this location can be.

In order to begin your search of this area, you will need to make your way to the left-hand side of the area and follow the pathway before finding yourself in a large open area filled with frozen hiss and more exploration options. To progress from this area you will need to head to the far end of this location and find yourself a train station which has some loot inside and the path forward.

Now you have made it through the train station, you will find yourself in a small tunnel that you need to get onto the roof for to head to a wide-open street that holds a large bloody pattern on the streets guiding you towards The Dancer boss.

You will now need to head up this wall/street before witnessing a rather horrifying sight and the entrance to the theatre location where the boss will be held. Approaching this area is incredibly straightforward, with some rooms inside the theatre where you can find some loot within.

How to Beat The Dancer

Finally, you have arrived at The Dancer boss fight, and it begins quite unnaturally with the boss kneeling down in the middle of the arena waiting for the player at least for a few seconds before standing up, so we recommend you take full advantage and go to town on the boss there and then, but once it stands up, you still won’t have too much to fear.

Before we get into the details of the boss fight, if you are feeling unprepared for this fight, do not worry, as below we will include the build we used to fight this boss:

  • Glaive – Wide sweeping attack that deals raw damage
  • Crush – A slow but high-damage attack that can knock enemies down
  • Split Pivot combo finisher – A spinning blade that appears at the end of a combo
  • Volatile Anomaly – Summons an ally that shoots enemies and can be thrown at them
  • Inferno – Turns your melee weapon and Volatile Anomaly into fire based attacks

Throughout this boss fight, The Dancer acts very slowly, as their attacks are very simple to avoid while also not dealing a lot of damage with only a few attacks and combos at their disposal. The main variety of attacks The Dancer will employ attacks like stabbing its two batons towards the player in a jabbing action, a spinning attack as they glide along the floor, another spinning attack but in place this time, and then finally some small jumping spins towards the player.

There are some alterations to these abilities, as they sometimes can combine them, as they use the jabbing attack as a starter to a combo before doing a small leap attack at the player doing a slash attack with both batons, but overall these attacks are pretty simple to avoid, allowing you to defeat this boss with ease, or so you thought.

After taking down The Dancer’s health bar, which is rather meagre considering the other bosses are quite dense, this is because The Dancer has a second phase to its fight after you achieve a finisher on the first version.

Control Resonant The Dancer phase two cutscene.

Once you do your finisher on The Dancer, you will enter a small cutscene where the boss will summon numerous arms around it and become a lot more aggressive. Because you have managed to use a finisher on the boss, you will have the Dominance buff for a small amount of time, so use this to your advantage and deal some devastating damage as soon as you can.

Now, this second phase has managed to kick in properly; you will begin to notice that the boss has some new attacks in its arsenal, as now the boss can actually leap around the arena, causing shockwaves in its local vicinity that deal a fairly large amount of damage, or the ability to grab two of the humans floating around the arena and throw them towards the player, which is a rather sad thing to happen.

Although some of the combos from the first phase will make a very rare appearance in this phase, there are a lot of new explosive combos that the boss will employ, with them constantly smashing the ground with their batons and their body, making the battle a lot more erratic in comparison to the first phase, which is rather calm.

After you continue to avoid The Dancer’s attacks and explosions, you will finally be able to beat it, granting you the option between two new abilities, one being Push, which allows you to push enemies away with a large force, or Ground Slam, which launches the player into the sky, slamming down into the floor like the boss.
