While exploring the drowned village in Valor Mortis, you will eventually find a hidden path after the second lantern rest spot that leads you towards a small area where the flooding has destroyed a wall, and a memory can be found where NPCs discuss the mayor and how he has locked his daughter away, and this is what unofficially begins the Sleeping Beauty Quest.
How to Start the Sleeping Beauty Quest in Valor Mortis

The easiest way to know that you are approaching the beginning of this quest is when you begin to approach a fleshy tree after defeating a clone of the Iron Marshall boss, but instead of heading towards this tree, you need to turn around, and there will be a small gap that you can crouch under to find this quest location.
Once you activate the quest, you will be informed that the father has locked his daughter up in the house next to this area, so you will need to find the key to open the house. To do this, what you will need to do is head up a small ramp leading towards another house that you can walk through and jump out the other side of, bringing you to a small grave with a note next to it.
This note explains that the daughter is worried about her father, as he has gone slightly mad after her mother has passed, as he forces her to work on a spinning wheel all day and night as he waits for something to happen, and something does indeed happen, but it is very sad to see it.
After reading this note, you will have officially begun the Sleeping Beauty Quest, and you will now need to follow the path through the flooded water, but be warned: the new enemy type of wasps will spawn around you, so make sure you take them down as soon as possible to ensure safe travel across the bridges.
Now that you have made it across the bridges, you will enter a house that has more notes inside, and once you enter the back room, you will encounter the town mayor, also known as the dad of the daughter, who is considered an elite enemy that you need to fight in a very small room to gain the key to the house you originally found locked by the memory.
How to Use the Headman’s Key and Find the Daughter

Now that you have defeated the town’s mayor, you will need to return to the original locked house, and to do this is quite simple, as all you will need to do is jump out of the window in the room the mayor emerged from, head to the right, and use the wall-running platform to land on a floating platform in the poison that you can then jump from to land back in front of the house, where you can now use the Headman’s Key.
After using the key, you will notice that the house is a bit worse for wear, with a note on a table in the first room explaining that the daughter has been infected with the Red Plague that has caused her to become ill and need to be locked away, as the town’s mayor believed this plague could cure her tuberculosis, but sadly it did not.
Once you head up the stairs in this house, you will then come across the sad scene of the daughter who is in a coma on the bed as she lies there waiting for someone to save her and put an end to her misery, but there are two ways to do this, with the player being given a choice.

As you approach the daughter, you will notice the spinning wheel next to the bed, which is covered in the fleshy tendrils that the game has made clear are a part of the Crimson Plague, and you will be given a choice to either wake the daughter up from her nightmare, which means you will need to kill her, or you can leave her in this state but in a deeper sleep than what she is in.
No matter what choice you make, the story will always end in a sad way, as you can either cause her to wake up and feel the shock of being a victim of the Crimson Plague before you give her a swift end, or you can leave her in a coma-like state as she slowly dies in her sleep; either way, it is a nightmarish choice that no one will be happy to make.
