One More Level worked hard on every little side quest in the game. In Chapter VIII of Valor Mortis, you’ll need to help a little girl recover her book of bedtime stories so she can sleep well while the atrocious plague is killing civilians and soldiers alike. As always, this side quest will not be easy, and the area will be full of enemies to defeat.

How to Complete the Bedtime Stories Side Quest in Valor Mortis

Just after the first lantern in Chapter VIII of Valor Mortis, you’ll find a city filled with enemies in every corner. But there are also several side quests to complete, including the one in this guide. First, before you can even reach the spot where you activate the quest, you need to access a path full of spikes and bodies. This is almost like a cinematic, so you won’t miss it.

Once you’re out of this brutal path, go a little to the right and you’ll spot a set of stone stairs. Go up there, and at the end of the stairs, you’ll find a bird’s nest with a little girl hiding inside. This girl is called Mimi, and she will tell you that she lost her storybook. She asks if you can retrieve the book so another girl can sleep better. Then, the Bedtime Stories side quest will begin.

Going After the Missing Book

Mimi will warn you about a deadly guard in the area where the book is located. However, this will not be the only enemy to be aware of. Going down the stairs, you should turn left and keep moving forward until you see a closed door with a white bird symbol on the side. After entering this building, you’ll need to go left.

You can choose to do things quietly and finish off a couple of enemies without being spotted. Then, you’ll need to open a door on the left, defeat another semi-boss, and keep going forward through a hallway before heading upstairs. Once you’re on the upper floor, you should go right onto a balcony, jump over the ledge, and go to the other side of this area.

The Book Is Surrounded by Enemies

After making it to the other side of the balcony, you’ll encounter a big enemy that throws grenades. He will make you fall to the bottom floor, where the book is waiting. This area is filled with different enemies. Once you’ve defeated all the enemies, you can look for the book in a corner of the room.
